South America GSAdventure
In the middle of December 2012, I lived one more dream! Stavros(nickname pirate) and I, Crossed South America !
Our motorcycles, shipped cargo from Greece to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we "caught" them up travelled by plane.
The trip was very well prepared and organized. I drove 15.000 kilometers without a problem. The trip lasted almost two months, and I travelled through Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay. My motorcycle, a BMW 1200GS Adventure, was simply unstoppable!
The expedition started from Buenos Aires. The boring Ruta 3 was our route to Ushuaia. Our visit to Peninsula Valdes was very interesting. We spent Christmas in Ushuaia with some friends from Horizons Unlimited forum. We visited Tierra del Fuego National Park and we crossed the Beagle Channel.
Ruta 40 was our way to Puerto Natales, Chile! We crossed National Parks in Argentina and Chile, Glaciers, and lakes, rivers. We drove in Ruta 40 and in Careterra Austral almost 3.500 kms on gravel. The nature was a miracle! A dream! In our way north, we visited El Calafate, El Chalten, Puerto Rio Tranquilo, Futualefu and San Carlos de Bariloche, and right after we drove up to Santiago, the capital of Chile. We crossed twice the Andes and our next stops were Mendoza and Cordoba, were we attend Rallye Dakar 2013, an amazing event!
From Cordoba I drove 1.120 km in a day to Montevideo, Uruguay. In Rosario Argentina, Stavros and I split up, so he drove down to Buenos Aires, as my partner had to return back to Greece.
I spent four days in Uruguay, and another five in Buenos Aires till Vana join me to continue the trip together, to Brazil and Paraguay. Iguazu Falls amazed us. A miracle wonder! We spent one week on this route, and we returned back to Buenos Aires, where I packed my motorcycle for its' return to Greece.
It was my biggest trip so far, in kilometers and in duration as well. I met a lot of interesting people and I made good friends!
I enjoyed every single meter in South America. I made one of my dreams to come true! I drove down to Fin Del Mundo!
